This IMG activity enables you to set up the required text modules.

Text modules generally contain one or more text elements which can be combined with graphic elements (for example "company code: " , "total gross amount", "tax days"). These have to be set up for data which is always printed in the same way on a payroll journal.

IDENTIFICATION OF TEXT MODULES

The text modules you set up here are referred to by their identifier in the activity "Set up information in the payroll journal". A text module identifier (such as "TEXT01") is stored in the following four fields which are all connected:

  • Window code
  • Group number
  • Indicator for the position of the text
  • Continuation indicator

The character string "TEXT" is stored in the Window code and Group number fields for every text module.

The number of the text module is stored in the Indicator for the position of the text and Continuation indicator fields. The Indicator for the position of the text field represents the tens column for the number, and the Continuation indicator field represents the units column.

EXAMPLE

You will find a list of the abbreviations used in the example under the heading "Abbreviations used" at the end of this activity.

You want to set up the text module "Total gross amount" for form "ZJ01" with identifier "TEXT01". The following entry is required:

Wndw    Gr    IK    N    ....+...1....+....2....+....3....+....4....+....5

TE    XT    0    1    Total gross amount

The text module identifier is stored from left to right in the four fields Window code, Group number, Indicator for the position of the text and Continuation indicator. The text module itself is entered in the text area.

TEXT MODULES FOR A PAYROLL JOURNAL IN SEVERAL LANGUAGES

If you want to create a payroll journal in different languages, as might be the case in multilingual countries such as Switzerland or Belgium, you must create every text module in all the languages in which you want the journal to be printed. Each entry must then be assigned to its corresponding language indicator.

Example

You want to set up the text module "Total gross amount" for form "ZJ01" with identifier "TEXT01". The payroll journal must be printed in German and English. In this example, you must proceed as follows:

  1. Press the function key Execute in the structure.
  2. In the window Determine work area: Entry displayed by the system, enter a D for German in the field Language indicator, then the corresponding country grouping and finally the form name. Then press the function keyContinue.
  3. Using the function New entries, create the following entries:

Wndw    Gr    I    N    ....+...1....+....2....+....3....+....4....+....5

TE    XT    0    1    Total gross amount

  1. You can exit the input area by pressing the function key Back twice.
  2. Press the function key Execute in the structure again.
  3. In the window Determine work area: Entry displayed by the system, enter an E for English in the field Language indicator and the corresponding country grouping. Then press the function key Continue.
  4. Using the function New entries, make the following entries again:

Wndw    Gr    I    N    ....+...1....+....2....+....3....+....4....+....5

TE    XT    0    1    Total gross

The example shows that a text module for multilingual payroll journals must be created in all required printout languages. Therefore, the language of the text module must match the corresponding language indicator.

Abbreviations used

In the examples shown, the following abbreviations are used:

Wndw    Window code

Gr    Group number

I    Indicator for the position of the text

N    Continuation indicator
