In this IMG activity, you set up number ranges.

Activities

Insert a New Interval

The interval number is used in assigning number ranges to classes.

1. Choose Change intervals.

The number range object that you are inserting an interval for is displayed in the Number Range Obj. field.

2. Select Insert interval.

The Insert Interval dialog box is displayed.

3. Enter the interval number, year, and from and to range numbers. Also, set the Ext. flag, if necessary. The Ext. flag is used to tell the system that this number range is externally-generated, in other words, assigned by the customer (as opposed to internally-generated, which is assigned by the system). For example, if you had a previous externally-assigned number range for the number range object, of 1 (from number) to 1,000,000 (to number), you could define a new range here as an externally-assigned range of 1,000,001 to 2,000,000. The Ext. flag thus allows you to set up your own manually-defined number ranges, which build on one another.

Caution: Do not overlap intervals for the same number and year.

4. Save the interval.

Maintain an Existing Interval / Change the Current Range Number

From this IMG activity (Measurement Document Number Ranges --> Define Number Ranges),

1. Select Change status.

2. Enter the new current number.

Further notes

The year on the number range is the year the range is no longer active. For example, if 2005 is entered at the year, the range can be used either until 2005 or until the numbers run out.
