In this IMG activity, you define asset types and specify an asset category and object system for these asset types.
An asset type represents the collateral details of a collateral object which are used in the internal collateral processes.
To use asset types to:
- Assign collateral agreement types to asset types in the IMG activity Assign Collateral Agreement Types to Asset Types. By this assignment, you determine the asset types on which the collateral agreement types can maintain charges.
- Assign the collateral object types to asset types while defining the individual collateral object types. By this assignment determines the asset type that would represent the business of the collateral object type.
Note: In the Customizing of collateral object types, you must select an appropriate asset type for each collateral object type.
Set the flag CHG Allw on Asset to specify that charges are possible for the positions in a securities account.
Note : This flag is relevant only for the positions in a securities account.

Some examples of asset types are:
- Machines (Object system - Devices)
- Life Insurance (Object system - Insurance)
- Savings Account in Own Bank (Object system - Claims)
- Jewellery (Object system - Other valuables)

Recommendation
Activities
Determine the asset types that you would require to maintain, as part of your business requirements and assign them to asset categories and object systems. You can define as many asset types that you may require.
