In this IMG activity, you select a number range interval for an asset type and assign a corresponding number range assignment type. By assigning a number range interval, you determine the interval that is to be currently used, to generate numbers for assets of the specified asset type.

The assignment to a number range assignment type validates if the number range interval is allowed for the asset type. For example, while defining number range intervals, you define both external and internal number ranges for an asset type. If you select an Internal number range and specify a number assignment type External and within a Specified Range, the system validates the assignment and returns an error if an incorrect assignment is made.
