In this step, you define your vesting rules and schedules. Vesting rules and schedules determine when an employee can exercise his/her right to receive the award and how much of that award he/she can exercise.
Example of Cliff Vesting
After 3 years, all options are vested. In this instance, you would enter 36 in the Period in months field and 100 in the Percent field.
Example of Graduated Vesting
20% of granted options are vested in year 1, 40% vest in year 2 and the last 40% in year 3. In this case, you would enter the following data:

Activities
- Determine which vesting rules and schedules you require in your organization
- Choose New entries
- Enter an identifier and a description
- Select a vesting rule and choose Vesting schedule from the navigation area
- Choose New entries
- Enter the relevant data to define your vesting schedules
- Save your entries
- Repeat steps 1 to 7 until you have defined all your vesting rules and schedules.
