In this step, you define life event types. Life events are either company or employee events, for example, company merger, marriage, that change how an award/grant is handled. Life events typically change the vesting schedules.

Example of a Company Life Event

Your organization undergoes a merger. As a result, all unvested shares will vest immediately and the expiration period is shortened.

Example of an Employee Life Event

An employee gets married. As a result, vesting accelerates and he/she can exercise 25% of his/her shares immediately.

  1. Determine which life event types you require in your organization
  2. Choose New entries
  3. Per life event type:
    1. Enter a four-character identifier and a text
    2. Specify whether the life event type is an Employee event or a Company even
  4. Save your entries
