The activity type is used to identify the activity. In addition to the three-digit numeric key, the activity type is also described by a short and long text.
Example
- Mail confirmation of receipt
- Transfer applicant file
- Mail invitation to interview
- Appointment for interview
- Mail rejection letter
- Mail contract
These examples show that different tasks are linked to the activities. Some are performed by the system, such as creating applicant letters and transferring applicant data to the employee master data database. All activity types which are to be performed by the system must be assigned a system function (data transfer, print).
Requirements
Every applicant activity has a status. This status specifies whether an activity is planned or completed.
- Planned activities are those to be carried out in the future.
- Completed activities are those carried out in the past.
Every planned and completed activity must be assigned a performance date. You must specify whether this is a "perform by" or a "perform on" date in the Date indicator field for the activity type. Please refer to the field documentation when doing this. When dealing with completed activities, the performance date is always a "performed on" date.
Standard settings
The standard SAP entries include at least all the activity types needed for the application procedure.
Recommendation
Use the SAP default settings as a reference when making additions to activity types. When doing this, please note that every letter and every piece of internal correspondence is an activity. Consequently, the system creates a letter or a mail when each activity is created.
Check which letters you require for applicant processing. To start printing of these letters automatically, you must create a separate activity type for every letter.
Activities
Now create new activity types and/or add to existing activity types.
