In the steps of this activity the following questions are answered:

How can I create, schedule and delete instances of the new object type?
How can I display and modify relationships between existing objects and instances of the new object type in the overview area?

To create, schedule, and delete instances (in other words objects) of the new object type, you must be able to display the newly-defined object type in the so-called structural overview object. The structural overview object also allows the visualization and modification of hierarchical structures that contain objects of the newly-defined object type. In other words, it allows you to display and modify relationships between existing objects and instances of the new object type.
In order to display the newly-defined object type in the structural overview object, you must create a new service for the structural overview object. This means, you must define a New Evaluation Path (without a skip flag) which contains this object type. If you call up the structural overview object from the hierarchy framework using this new service and with an object of the new object type, the structural overview object displays this object in the context of the entered evaluation path.

Finally, you must define which actions can be carried out in the selection area of the object manager for an object of the newly-defined object type. You can initiate an action either with a double-click or using the context menu. Each action is defined by a request. Each request is assigned to one or more object types, in other words for each object type the number of executable requests is fixed.
A request consists of two services, in other words it is - for example - possible to define a request which contains on the one hand the newly-defined service of the structural overview object, and on the other a service that displays detailed information about the object in the detail object.

You can also define several evaluation paths that contain the new object type. In that case you must also define several services and therefore several requests, since each evaluation path is represented by one service.
If there are several requests for one object type, you must designate one of them the standard request. The standard request is the one that is triggered by a double-click on an object in the selection area of the object manager. You can access the other requests over a context menu.

Activities

Define Your Own Service for Structural Overview Object:
In this step you define a new service for the structural overview object. Here, you simply define that the service exists.
Make the following settings:

In the Interface Object Service field, enter a key (meaningful to you) for the new service.
In the Object Key field, enter the key of the structural overview object. The key is GOWD.

Define Structural Overview Object Attributes for Your Own Service step.
Make the following settings:

In the Interface Object Service field, enter your newly-defined service.
In the Object Type field, enter the new object type for which the service is to be valid.
In the Selection field, specify the selection type (single or multiple selection). Within the structural overview object you can use drag and drop to make changes to the displayed structure. The selection type determines whether only one or several objects may be selected. Usually, you should choose multiple selection.
In the Evaluation Path field, enter you newly-defined evaluation path.

Over the evaluation path the system defines a structure tree that displays the structural overview object. In order to keep system answer times down, the structural tree is not displayed fully expanded: only the first 'n' levels are visible.

In the Techn. Depth field, define 'n', in other words, the level of the structure tree initially visible.

Through user interaction you can expand all further levels of the tree. SAP recommends a Techn. Depth of n = 2.

In the Column Group field, enter a column group (see column framework). A standard SAP column group that is generically usable is NF_GEN_OV.
In the Heading Type field, you can enter a heading type (optional) that is a composite definition of the column headings in the column group (see column framework).

Define Your Own Request step
Make the following settings:

In the Scenario field, enter the scenario of the hierarchy framework intowhich you want to integrate the new object type.
In the Hierarchy Framework Request field enter a technical key (meaningful to you) for the new request.
Choose a mnemonic name for the request.

The name may be displayed in the context menu and should describe the the structure displayed by the structural overview object service that you define in the next field.

In the Service of First Interface Object field, enter the newly- defined service of the structural overview object.
In the Service of Second Interface Object field, enter the service DETAIL(GENERAL). This service is assigned to the detail object. The detail object displays all tab pages of the new object type.
In the Tab Page field, you can (optionally) enter a tab page that you want the detail object to display as a default when the request is called up. If you enter nothing here (this is usually the case), the detail object determines the initial tab page.

Assign Your Own Request to an Object Type step
Make the following settings:

In the Scenario field, enter the hierarchy framework scenario into which you want to integrate the new object type.
In the Request field, enter the request that you want to assign to an object type.
In the Object Type field, enter the new object type.

If there are several requests for one object type, you must define one of them as the standard request. The standard request is the one that is triggered when you double-click on the object in the selection area of the object manager. You can access the other requests over a context menu.

Further notes

If the Set/Get parameter OM_FRAM_SCEN_DISPLAY is set, the hierarchy framework scenario that is active when you call up a transaction is displayed in the title.
