In this step you set the number ranges for accounts. Number assignment is used to give accounts a unique identification.
Each account entered in the SAP System must be assigned a unique number.
The account numbers are unique per company code.
You need to define:
- the type of number assignment (external or internal)
- a number range interval from which the number for the respective object is selected
You have the following options for the type of number assignment:
- transfer the numbers of the data records from a legacy system (external number assignment)
- let the SAP System assign numbers to the data records (internal number assignment).
You can display the status of current intervals as well as change interval statuses. To delete an interval, you first change the interval status to zero.
Only number range interval 01 is relevant for SAP Banking
Requirements
You must first create your company codes.
Activities
- Enter the company code for which you want to set number ranges.
- Choose Change interval to create or change a number range interval.
- Choose Insert interval to create a new number range interval.
- Choose the Change status function to change the status of a number range interval.
- Define the interval limits by entering a 'From number' and a 'To number'.
- Select internal or external number assignment.
- Save your entries.
Additional Information
With internal number assignment the SAP System automatically assigns the next free number from the internal number range interval to a new transaction.
