Using this derivation, the fields from the profitability analysis part of the financial object and the characteristic values can be automatically determined from the master data. This derivation is also called up in financial object maintenance (online and data transfer) for this purpose.

Note that the costing rule is dealt with specially. If it is derived, it is NOT saved with the financial object. This means that this derivation takes place only when the costing rule is determined (for example during a costing run). All other fields derived in this way are then saved. In particular, these fields remain unchanged when the derivation is run only to determine the costing rule.

Derivation strategy and derivation procedure

The derivation strategy is made up of a series of derivation steps, with which fields can be derived from the profitability analysis part and characteristic values from master data. Each step describes a derivation type, which can be used to help fill a number of target fields with information from a number of source fields. The source fields are the fields from which information is derived, and target fields are the ones into which this information is placed. Each step describes a logical relationship between target and source fields.

Derivation types

The following derivation types are possible:

  • Derivation rules
Derivation rules are "if-then rules" which use a table-like structure to determine which characteristic value combinations from the source fields correspond to those of the target fields.
  • Table access
Using table access, you can access individual records from any tables. The source fields correspond to the keys in a table, from which certain field content can be transferred to target fields.
  • Assignments
Using assignments, you can directly assign any constant or the content of any source field to a target field.
  • Customer enhancement
For derivation, you can use enhancement 'PADR0001'. This can be used anywhere and as many times as you want in the derivation strategy. For more information, see the documentation for enhancements.

Further notes

The transaction differentiations, which are created automatically in the profitability analysis part of the financial object, are assigned to a part of the description of the variable transaction.
