Limit categories control the coverage check for an account and also account balancing with regard to conditions.
SAP supports the following limit categories:
- External limit (03): The limit of which the customer is informed. This is for information purposes only and does not control any other functionality. The external limit must be lower than or equal to the internal limit.
- Internal limit (02): This is the limit used in payment transactions to check the amount coverage of the account.
- Overdraft limit (01): This limit is used to calculate the overdraft interest. If the limit is exceeded, any overdraft interest condition existing takes effect. The overdraft limit is ideally the same as the external limit.
Limit categories for interest compensation
- Interest compensation overdraft limit (04): Basis for the calculation of overdraft interest in the course of interest compensation.
- Internal interest compensation limit (05): Controls the coverage check of payment transactions. The account pool for interest compensation can be overdrawn up to this amount.
- External interest compensation limit (06): The limit of which the customer is informed and which is for information purposes only.
Recommendation
We recommend you retain the supplied settings. Changing the settings would require additional programming effort and is only advisable in exceptional circumstances.
Further notes
You define the limit categories independent of the client.
If you define your own limit categories (07, and so on), this is displayed in "Other account maintenance".
