In this section you initiate the transfer of external data. You can do this as a onetime transfer of old data, or periodically when your master data need to be transferred to another system.

Example

Requirements

You must have already defined the sender structure and the transfer rules. In addition, an ASCII file with the data records to be transferred must be accessable on the server.

Standard settings

Recommendation

Activities

  1. Enter the name of your sender structure as the name of the transfer program.
  2. Enter the path of the ASCII file to be imported. If the ASCI file was generated by a test program in the SAP system enter the physical name of the file and not the path.
  3. Under 'output file' enter the name of the file to which the data records containing errors should be written.
  4. Make the appropriate settings. SAP recommends that you use the value "3" for the check, and set the indicator for "output sender records in case of errors".
  5. Leave the fields for the costing parameters empty.
  6. Enter the name of the server. If the ASCII file was generated with a test program in the SAP system, choose 'application server'.
  7. Choose which processing steps should be carried out during the run.
  8. Choose the file type. If the ASCII file was generated with a test program in the SAP system, choose 'text file'.
  9. Choose the number format. If the ASCII file was generated with a test program in the SAP system: no format
  10. Choose the data format. If the ASCII file was generated with a test program in the SAP system, choose 'ASCII'.
  11. Choose the date format. If the ASCII file was generated with a test program in the SAP system, choose YYYYMMDD.

  13. Leave the comment lines in file skip empty.
  14. Save your entries as a variant.
  15. Start the transfer.
    önnen.

Further notes

SAP offers the test programs RFBKACTEST1 and RFBKACTEST2 for account master data. You can use them to generate an ASCII file with test data.
