In this section you learn how you can have the information system on the interfaces displayed.

With the information system you can have all relevant information on the interfaces and the corresponding function modules displayed. You also have the option of branching from the information system to maintenance, where you can edit whatever function modules you want.

Screen layout

The initial screen of the information system is divided into five sections:

  1. Search using application components
  2. Other selections
  3. Interface used by country key and application indicator
  4. Interface used by partner and product
  5. Interface used by customer product

These sections permit a differentiated search for interfaces and available function modules. You can also search for SAP business transaction events, complimentary software products and your own products.

1. Search using application components

Attribute category: Here you set the indicator of the attribute category. This can be different categories. For interfaces for the current account system, always enter category C for application processes.
Components: In the case of the current account system, processes are defined here to which events are clearly assigned. For example, if you enter BKK_BANK_STATEMENT, you receive all available interfaces for bank statements.

2. Other selections

Interface: Enter here the interval in which the interface you are looking for is created. Use the F4 help for possible selections. (The interfaces for the current account system have three leading zeros and are currently located in an interval of 00010010 - 00011600.)
For the current account system it is more meaningful to search using components, as the events are assigned to processes, making a successful search in the name range quicker.
Events with active products: Only those events to which a function module is actively assigned are displayed here. Active means that the event is assigned. Not active means that only the SAMPLES exist. Using the interval limitation of the interface you can further restrict the list of displayed events.
Only display short texts: If this indicator is set, you only see the first line of the description of the interface. If the indicator is not set, you see the whole title.

3. Interface used by

Country key: Using the country key you can make targeted searches for language-dependent events.
Application indicator: Here you enter the abstract indicator for a part of the SAP system. If, for example, you choose BCA, you get all interfaces used by the current account system.

4. Interfaces used by

Partner: If you have defined partners, using this selection option you can have all interfaces used by software partners displayed.
Product: If you have defined products of partners, using this selection option you can have all interfaces used by partner products displayed.

5. Interfaces used by

Customer products: If you have defined your own products, using this selection option you can have all interfaces you use displayed.

The search in the information system operates with and-links, this means the more fields you enter, the smaller the number of hits. You further limit the search with each field you enter.

Once you have identified an event, you always have the option of branching to the interface of the event or to the function library.

Interface: This is where the predefined interface of the SAMPLE module is stored.
Function library: Branching here brings you to the maintenance transaction of the function modules. The SAMPLE is entered automatically. Here you can copy the SAMPLE into your own name range and finish programming it, view the interface, the source text, global data or the main program.
Magnifying glass: Choose the magnifying glass for the detailed view of an event. You see the short text and again have the option of branching to the interface or the function library.

Example

You want to link the processing of bank statements to your own function module.

  • Enter attribute category C.
    • Using the F4 help, choose the appropriate component, in this case
      BKK_BANK_STATEMENT: bank statement.
  • Choose execute.
  • Select the interface.
  • Choose the function library.
  • Choose copy.
  • Enter the name of your future module, e.g. Z_bank statement, and enter the name of your function group.
  • Finish programming the module Z_bank statement.
  • Create your product by choosing Define/activate an own product.
  • Create your function module by choosing Define own function modules (P/S).
  • Test your module.

Further notes

When your are working with the information system it is advisable to have two sessions open:

  1. A session for having the information system displayed.
  2. A session for making the table entries.
