Use

In this Customizing activity, you can import data from a Microsoft Excel workbook or an XML file to create, update, or delete multiple buckets simultaneously.

The Microsoft Excel workbook that you can import contains the following sheets with fields that match the bucket fields:

  • Bucket
  • Bucket Authorization

Fields that are derived in the Bucket Details screen are not included in the import.

Requirements

You have defined the fields for the import workbook in the Customizing activity Configure Fields for Mass Import.

Standard settings

Activities

You can download the Microsoft Excel workbook as a template that includes all the fields available. To start this activity, select the file type, and then choose Display DX Layout.

You can populate the workbook with information for one of the following operations: create new buckets, update existing buckets, or delete existing buckets. To perform different operations you must create and import separate workbooks.

  • Create

When you import the workbook, new buckets are created. If an error occurs during the mass import, only those objects for which errors occurred are not imported.

  • Change

When you import the workbook, the available bucket data is updated. You can overwrite authorizations.

  • Delete

When you import the workbook, the buckets listed in it are deleted from the system.

Note: Deletions are made at bucket level only. Bucket authorizations are not deleted independently of the buckets.

For each of the operations above, you can choose Test Run so that the import runs and messages are generated, but the data is not saved to the bucket. If no errors occur, you can then run the import.

After each import, the system records all successes and errors in the application log.
