Use

This IMG activity enables you to determine counterevents for the background events and workflow events you use in the HR Process Workbench. You can only assign background events to background events as counterevents, and workflow events to workflow events.

In the case of background events, you can determine a counterevent for a combination of event and event parameter. The counterevent only takes effect if the event is triggered with this very event parameter. If the event is triggered with a different parameter, the counterevent does not apply. In the case of background events, you can also determine an event parameter for the counterevent.

The Do Not Start Process if This Counterevent Occurs indicator enables you to determine how the HR Process Workbench responds to a counterevent occurrence.

For more information on how events are used in the HR Process Workbench, access the SAP Library and choose Human Resources -> Payroll -> Payroll <country> -> Payroll in the SAP System -> Payroll in a Background Operation -> HR Process Workbench.

Example

You want to schedule processes in the HR Process Workbench so that they are started as soon as program A has imported certain data into the SAP system from a third-party system and the SAP system has been switched to night operation. However, you do not want the processes to be started while program B is processing the imported data. In this case, the process in question must wait until program B has finished.

To do this, you use transaction SM62 (Display/Maintain Event Names) to create the END_OF_IMPORT and START_OF_PROCESSING background events. As soon as program A has finished, the END_OF_IMPORT event is triggered. When program B is executed, the START_OF_PROCESSING event is triggered. You define the START_OF_PROCESSING event as a counterevent for the END_OF_IMPORT event. You do not set the Do Not Start Process if This Counterevent Occurs indicator.

You schedule a process in the HR Process Workbench that depends on the END_OF_IMPORT event and Night Operation operation mode. The END_OF_IMPORT event is triggered, but the operation mode has not been switched to night operation yet. A user executes program B. This triggers the START_OF_PROCESSING event. This event's occurrence reverses the occurrence of the END_OF_IMPORT event. As a result, the process is not started even if the operation mode is switched to night operation. However, the process can still be started if the END_OF_IMPORT event occurs again and the operation mode is switched to night operation again.
