The Data Acquisition Tool (DAQ) is designed to retrieve form/section/field attributes and field data sources in tables to assist you in generating a form. A form is built into sections, and a section comprises a number of fields. A field stores data from different system locations.
The DAQ tool retrieves all the required data including attributes corresponding to the electronic file for the form and generates either a flat format file (Temporary Sequential File: TemSe) or an XML file.

When you create your form, you must consider the following five factors:

  • A form is time-dependent and has generic and specific attributes.
  • You must set the attributes for your form, section and field. For example, you set the sections attributes for the electronic file.
  • Fields are based on a combination of attributes and source of data.

    For example, you specify the source of field PERNR as an infotype 0000 table.

  • Inheritance concept

    The inheritance concept enables you to inherit a form, a form section or a form field from an existing form. In the following IMG steps, you inherit this data as follows:

    • Form in step Define Forms
      Specify the form to be inherited in table field Inherit Form. Select A in Inheritance Type if you want to inherit the whole form specified in field Inherit Form. If you leave the Inheritance Type field empty, you must enter the sections to be inherited in the field Inherit Section in the next step Define Sections Form.
    • Section in step Define Form Sections
      Select A in table field Inheritance Type if you want to inherit all existing sections of the form. If you leave this field empty, you must enter the sections to be inherited in the field Inherit Section and flag checkbox Inherit Attributes to inherit attributes for all sections .
    • Field in step Assign Fields to a Section
      • Specify the field to be inherited and flag Inherit Attributes to inherit the fields attributes as well the fields data source.
  • Condition
    You can set conditions for each form/section and field in the IMG step Specify conditions.
