Use

When sending sensitive data from the SAP system via the Internet, you have to encrypt the data beforehand. This is also described in the procedure for communication between employers and health insurance providers.

The ITSG (Information Service of German State Health Providers) proscribes the Privacy-Enhanced Mail (PEM) procedure as the encryption algorithm.

Activities

  1. Set Up Encryption Software

    SAP collaborates with third-party providers of encryption software. These companies' products are linked to the SAP system via an open interface, known as a Secure Store and Forward (SSF) interface.
    For instructions on how to install the encryption software within your IT landscape, see the manufacturer's software.

  2. Request Encryption Certificates
    To participate in the electronic data exchange procedure with the health insurance providers, each participant (for each company number) requires a certificate for the encryption of the data.
    Certificates are requested from the ITSG trust center responsible for health insurance providers:
