In this step, you assign the personnel area and personnel subarea to the business place and the section code defined in Financial Accounting.

This assignment will be used

  1. to derive data relevant for employees' tax reporting by reading the characteristics of the business place assigned to the personnel subarea to which an employee is or was belonging.
  2. to post withholding tax (income and residence tax) calculated during payroll run according to the tax offices it has to be transferred to.
  3. to check the consistency of the assignment of representative business places for medical insurance associations.

Requirements

Business places and section codes must have been defined in Financial Accounting. Personnel subareas must have been set up, to comply with the legal rules for taxation and for medical insurance. At least one personnel subarea should be defined for each local tax office to which the residence tax for employees has to be paid.

Activities

To make the assignment:

  1. Choose the personnel area.
  2. Enter the personnel subarea within a personnel area.
  3. Enter the section code and then the business place.

If there was one assigned to the Section Code already in Financial Accounting, the system will enter the business place automatically.

Further notes

The input for the section code and the business place will be checked by several criteria:

  1. Whether the personnel area to which the personnel subarea belongs is assigned to the same company code with the section code and the business place.
  2. Whether a business place was already assigned to a section code in Financial Accounting.

Changes to the settings of the business place and the section code in Financial Accounting may lead to the need to adjust the data maintained in this step.
