In this IMG activity, you maintain number range intervals on your system for PRA-Production.

For some tables, SAP suggests a certain number range, which the system displays in the Sugg. From and Sugg.To columns on the screen. If the flag in the Syst. NRIV column is set, this indicates that there is already a number range that SAP suggests you use (if you do not use the suggested range, PRA might not function correctly !).

Recommendation

The number range intervals for almost all objects are set up per year. There is an exception to that, however. You set up the interval once (for all time) for number range intervals in the following situation:

- If you have Revenue Accounting set ON (active) in your system. If you are setting up the number range interval once, set the To year to '9999'.

If Revenue Accounting is OFF in your system, you set up number range intervals in the standard way - per year.

If Revenue Accounting is ON in your system, the following two objects are set up once, rather than per year:

- Measurement Point Volumetric Data, and

- Well Completion Disposition Volumes Header.

Activities

Within the IMG activity, the Long Text column refers to the object for which you are maintaining the interval. The Status column refers to the status of your number range interval, with respect to what SAP 'expects'. The second column from the left (Maintain Number Range Interval) is used to maintain the number range interval. The third column from the left (Maintain Configuration) is used to maintain the configuration (including the To year and whether the number range is to be maintained internally or externally). The next column to the right (Transport Number Range Intervals) is used to transport the interval.

If the flag in the Syst. NRIV column is set, this indicates that there is already a number range that SAP suggests you use (if you do not use the suggested range, PRA might not function correctly !).

To maintain a number range interval:

1. First review the Syst. NRIV column for the object you would like to maintain a number range interval for. If the flag in that column is set, it means that there is a number range that SAP suggests you use. Now review the status of the number range interval in the Status column. If the color within the Status column is either red or yellow, it means that number range maintenance is necessary (green indicates that the status is ok - and that you do not need to maintain the interval). Please refer to the Legend screen area in the activity to review all of the possible statuses that can be displayed in the Status column.

2. If number range maintenance is required, select Maintain Number Range Interval.

The Maintain Number Range Intervals screen is displayed.

3. Select Insert Internal.

The Insert Interval dialog box is displayed.

4. Use this dialog box to enter whether the number range is to be internal (system-generated), or externally maintained (to set the number range as external, select the Ext. flag. If you don't set the Ext. flag, the number range that you are setting up will be considered internally-generated). Enter the year (see the Note in the Recommendations section of this documentation), and the From and To ranges (From Number and To Number).

5. Select Insert.

- To assign a number range interval to a table, From the IMG activity screen (Interval Maintenance (General)), choose Maintain Configuration. The Change View "Number Range Interval Assignments to PRA Tables Overview" screen is displayed. Select (if required: Change/Display and then) New Entries. The New Entries: Overview of Added Entries screen is displayed. Within the Logical Table Name column, enter the relevant data object. Select Ext. if assignment is to be external. Enter the To year and the number range interval. Save your record.

- To transport a number range interval - From the Interval Maintenance (General) screen, choose Transport Num. Range Intervals.
