Returns processes are used to perform actions or tasks for items in a returns document. Frequently they are used to post documents following the creation and delivery of a returns item. These are referred to as subsequent documents.
Each process is associated with a function that is used to perform the action. Any documents created by the process are linked to the returns item using the OLM object flow index. Alternatively, documents may be posted independently of the returns transaction and then later linked to one or more returns items.
In addition to the general processes described above, the returns transaction uses special processes to create 'return deliveries' that are used to return materials to the base location and optionally 'repeat deliveries' that are used to send the materials back to the remote location after being returned, for example for temporary storage.
The type of delivery (i.e. delivery without reference or replenishment delivery) depends on the material being returned and on why it is being returned. For example material being returned to stock will normally be transported using a replenishment delivery. Material being returned for temporary storage at the base location will usually use a delivery without reference for both the return delivery and the repeat delivery.
In this step you define for combinations of recommended action and supply process the returns process to be used for return delivery and repeat delivery. If the supply process is irrelevant for the configuration you can leave this field blank and the returns transaction will find the entry after first looking for entries with the supply process specified.
