Define Remarks Text. Every remark code uses predefined text and data fields to create a given remark. The text is collected from a Message Class and the data fields are used to fill out the placeholders inside the messages.

Activities

This maintenance view ties the necessary messages and data fields to a given remark specified by a remark code. The fields in this view are:

Remark

Holds the Remark Code as defined in the "Guide to Personnel Data Standards" document , distributed by the Office of Personnel Management.

Seqno

The values for this field can be '01' or '02'. Since every remark is formed by using messages from a Message Class, this fields gives us the oportunity to use up to two such messages.

Message ID

The entry here should be the name of the Message Class that will be used.

Message Number

This holds the message number in the Message Class.

Table Name 1 ... 4

Every message in a Message Class can have up to four places within the text where optional text can be inserted. In NoA processing these texts would represent field values used by the particular NoA. These field values are taken from fields within an HR Master data table, i.e., connected to an infotype. Entries in this column represent the table name.

Field Name 1 ... 4

Here we place the fieldnames, or table entry names, connected to Table Name 1 ... 4.

Option 1 ... 4

This is an option for the use of the field value within the text. A choice of 'N' uses the current, or new, value from the field. A choice of 'O' uses the old, or saved value.

Example

Suppose we want to configure Remarks B01 and B32, regarding Benefits and Leave. These remarks say the following.

B01: Cancelled health benefits.

B32: Changes SCD from (date) to reflect excess time in nonpay status during calendar

year (year).

In the second message, the text inside parentheses represents a place holder.

In a Message Class, say one called BENEFITS, we find the following messages:

002: Cancelled health benefits.

009: Changes SCD from & to reflect excess time in nonpay status

010: during calendar year &.

In Message Classes, the '&' symbol represents place holders.

Suppose the fields to be used for these placeholders are P0656-BEGDA and P0209-SUBTY.

We can now go ahead to configure these Remarks. The configuration entries would be:

For Remark B01:

Remark = B01

seq no = 01

Message ID = BENEFITS

msg. no. = 002

For Remark B32:

Remark = B32

seq no = 01

Message ID = BENEFITS

msg. no. = 009

Table Name 1 = P0656

Field Name = BEGDA

Option 1 = N

and

Remark = B32

seq no = 02

Message ID = BENEFITS

msg. no. = 010

Table Name 1 = P0209

Field Name = SUBTY

Option 1 = N.
