Use
In this step, you maintain the messages within the message class that you defined in the previous step. The messages that you maintain here, in turn, are assigned in the subsequent step to the renewal codes that you will define in that step in tandem.
Requirements
Before you may execute this step, you are required to have defined the corresponding message class in the previous step.
Standard settings
No default messages have been maintained for renewal codes in the standard system.
The maintenance of messages in this step is, however, optional. If your workplace does not intend to use renewal codes or to assign messages to them, then omit this step entirely.
Activities
- Execute this step.
- On the subsequent screen, specify the message class that you defined in the previous step for use in conjunction with renewal codes.
- If you have defined, but not yet created, this message class, then choose Create.
- If you have already created this message class, then choose Change.
- On the subsequent screen, in the Message short text column, enter a short text of the message (if desired) that corresponds to each renewal code to be created.
- If you wish to maintain a long text, choose Long Text from the application toolbar, then enter the long text for that message on the subsequent screen.
- If you do not wish to maintain a long text, choose the checkbox Self-explanat'y.
Note
If you choose to maintain messages, you can enter either short texts, or long texts, or both. However, for each message you maintain, you are required to enter, at a minimum, either a short text or a long text. - Save your entries, then exit this step.
Example
Suppose you defined message class ZRENEWCODE in the previous step as the customer message class whose messages will be used to describe the renewal codes in your system. Also, suppose you wish to create three renewal codes for use in the Certification and Licensing infotype (0795), namely:
- P181 - This is the holder's initial emergency permit.
- R15 - There are no additional requirements for the renewal of this credential.
- S31B - This certificate need not be renewed.
To this end, you would execute this step and make the following entries within message class ZRENEWCODE:
- Message - Message short text
000 - This is the holder's initial emergency permit.
001 - There are no additional requirements for the renewal of this credential.
002 - This certificate need not be renewed.
If desired, you could also maintain a corresponding long text for each message to store additional renewal instructions.
