Use

In this step, you define a complete list of the classifications that will be used within your system to identify the areas of certification and licensing.

Activities

  1. Execute this step.
  2. On the subsequent screen, for each area to be classified, enter a one- to four-character identifier of your choosing in the Classif. column.
  3. For each identifier you enter, specify a corresponding description in the adjacent column.
  4. Save your entries, then exit this step.

Example

Suppose you are employed for a county school district, for which you must classify the occupational areas of your employees. By executing this step, you could classify these occupational areas in the following manner:

  • Classif. - Description
    ACAD - Academic
    ADMN - Administrative
    SUPI - Superintendent
    SUPR - Supervisory
    VOCA - Vocational

The classifications defined here ultimately classify - within employee records of the Certification and Licensing infotype (0795) - the kinds of certificates or licenses that have been issued to your employees. In that infotype, teachers who are certified to instruct students in vocational skills would have records with the classification VOCA, while appropriately certified school principals would have records with the classification SUPR.
