This entry determines the identifier of the 'service' used to compute the service seniority.
The concept of 'service' may be different from customer to customer.
By default, 'service' is equalized to the field 'BUKRS' (company code) also used into the infotype Organizational Assignment (0001). But for some that level is too high and the concept of 'service' must be equalized with the field 'WERKS' (personnel area), 'BTRTL' (personnel sub-area), 'ORGEH' (Organizational unit) or ''VDSK1' (Organizational key).
That concept of 'service' can be customized via the use of an adjusted selection exit (cfr. service seniority calculation).
Example
Service seniority in your administration for an employee starts when he or she joins the company.

Standard settings
The standard setting presumes that the service seniority is defined on the company code level.
