In this step, you define termination rules. You define these rules for every combination of termination grouping and termination variant, thereby determining the coverage continuation periods and termination day that will apply for different groups of employees.
You later apply termination rules to plans in the benefits program by assigning the termination variant used in the rule definition.
Example 1
An employee is enrolled in a Standard Health Plan. His employment contract is terminated. His termination date is 31 July, yet according to the termination variant, the health plan can cease to give coverage only on the first day of the next quarter, after 1 month waiting.
Example 2
An employee resigns. Your company allows the employee to continue participating in all health plans until the end of the current month.
For this situation, the termination grouping RSGN is already assigned in the feature.
The termination variant HLTH is already defined.
The termination rule for the combination RSGN/HLTH is defined with the coverage continuation period ending on the last day of the current month.
Activities
- Identify the different coverage continuations required within your organization.
- Choose New entries.
- Select the termination variant for which you want to define a rule, as prompted.
- Enter the appropriate eligibility grouping.
- Enter the validity dates for the rule and define the coverage continuation period.
You may want to use a date other than the employee's leaving date as the start date for the coverage continuation period. If so, you should specify a Leaving date override. For any employee with a Date Specifications (infotype 0041) record containing the date type you specify here, wht have their coverage continuation period will be calculated from that date. If you do not enter an override or if an employee does not have a valid infotype record, the normal leaving date is used.
- Save your entries.
- Repeat steps 2-6 for each combination of termination variant and termination grouping .
