In this step, you set up which salary components are valid for each compensation group. Furthermore, in this step you also assign eligibility rules for salary components based on your organizations employee guidelines for remunerating compensation groups.
Example
By performing the activity in Define Compensation Groups, the Cape to Cairo Trailer Company (CCT) set up the compensation group STND (standard).
By performing the activities in the Eligibility, the Eligibility rule for 6 Months Service was created.
By performing this activity, CCT set up numerous salary components applicable for the compensation group STND, including Entertainment Allowance (EALL).
The CCT personnel department has issued a statement that employees in the compensation group STND are only eligible for an entertainment allowance after 6 months of service with the company. Furthermore, once an employee becomes eligible, the value range of the allowance can only be between R300 and R2500.
Therefore, the following eligibility selections were made by using this step:
- In the Elig. rule field, 6 Months Service was chosen
- In the Minimum fig. field, 300 was entered
- In the Maximum fig. field, 2500 was entered
Requirements
You must have already maintained salary components, compensation groups, and eligibility rules before performing this step.
Activities
- Execute the activity, then choose your Compensation area and Compensation group.
- To assign salary components to the component group, choose New entries.
- In the Salary comp. field, select the salary component and enter the validity dates in the from and to fields.
- If applicable, select in the Elig. rule field the eligibility restriction valid for each salary component specific to the compensation group.
Notes
An amount or percentage specified in the Range section can only be within the permissible range for the salary component as specified in the Storage section of the Define Salary Components activity.
