Activities
To create additional salary components:
- Select the Define Salary Components activity.
- Enter your Compensation area (which in most cases will be your country code).
- Choose New entries.
- In the Salary comp. field, enter a four-digit code representing the salary component and a long text.
- In the Storage section, enter if applicable, whether the salary component references an infotype, an infotype subtype, and/or a wage type.
- In the Nature of SC field, select the appropriate indicator to define the salary component.
Total Package - sum of salary components.
Remainder - indicates that this salary component is the remainder portion of an employee's total package after all other salary components have been allocated. Note: The remainder can be split among more than one salary component. If such is the case, the portions must be indicated in the Remainder part field (per salary component).
Part of Total Cost - these salary components that are not considered as part of the total package, but rather over and above the total package. (The total cost to the company is the sum of these salary components plus the total package.)
Part of Total Package - normal salary component, which when combined with other salary components, form an employee's total package.
Normal Deduction - deducted from net pay in payroll, but is not included in the employee's package. For example, such is the case in South Africa, when calculating contributions to group life (life insurance for an employee). There would be two salary components in the system (one for an employee contribution and one for an employer contribution). For the employer contribution, the nature is Part of Total Package, as the employee contribution is a benefit to the employee. For the employee contribution, the nature is considered Net Pay Deduction, as the amount is deducted from the employee's pay.
Informational Figure - is a salary component used only for informational purposes. For example, a company could have a salary component cash package which stores the sum of all salary components where the employee is getting a benefit in monetary terms, such as Car Allowance, Entertainment Allowance, and Basic Pay.
- In the Remainder part field, enter the proportion of the salary component in relation to another salary component. Note: Only if you select the nature Remainder and there is more than one salary component as a remainder, do you need to enter in the Remainder part field, the proportion allocated. Such is the case as in the example above with a 13th cheque.
- In the Calculation field, enter the name of the function module used for special calculations. A function module is only needed when a contribution cannot be determined when the amount is not advised.
In those cases where there is a standard formula used for calculations, SAP has created function modules, such as:
HR_SPA_CALC_MAZA (for South African Medical Aid contributions)
HR_SPA_CALC_PFZA (for South African Pension Fund contributions)
HR_SPA_CALC_UIFZA (for South African UIF contributions)
HR_SPA_CALC_SUPER (for Australian Super Annuation)
Note: For all the instances where a salary component is calculated based on your specific company rules, you will need to create your own function module.
For company car, SAP supplies a model function module HR_SPA_CALC_CCZA_MODEL to calculate the cost of the company car to be deducted. To create your own company specific calculation, copy this function module, amend it accordingly, and assign it to your salary component Company Car.
- Note: This field is only applicable for transaction P16A (release 4.6A).
In the Categ. F4 help field, enter the name of the function module used for special F4 help input categories. In the following cases, SAP has created standard function modules:
HR_SPA_F4HELP_MAZA (for South African Medical Aid F4 help)
HR_SPA_F4HELP_PFZA (for South African Pension Fund F4 help)
HR_SPA_F4HELP_COMPCAR (for South African Company Car F4 help)
Advise module HR_SPA_F4HELP_CATEGORIES if you want to define specific categories for a salary component representing a particular amount or percentage. In addition to maintaining the function module, you must create the category fields, in the Salary packaging: Categories for salary components table (T5W7H) as set up in Define Standard Categories.
In the Display sequ. field, you determine the order of the salarycomponents, as specified in the Salary Components table (T5W7A).
In the Input setting field, you make a decision as to in which fields entries are allowed in the Salary packaging screen.
