In this step, you set up your WSE (wage and salary earnings) wage types to determine whether the employee is eligible to the superannuation guarantee charge (SGC).
The WSE wage types specify the amount of the employee's wage and salary earnings. The minimum monthly earnings limit is checked against the WSE amount to determine whether the employee is eligible to SGC contributions from the employer. The WSE wage type is cumulated on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Example
You want to set up wage type /141 for wage and salary earnings for SGC. To do this, you define all the earnings you want to cumulate into the WSE wage type by flagging cumulation class 41 for each. The earnings you want to cumulate into the wage type may include salary, allowances, overtime, bonuses, commissions, over-award payments, shift and casual loadings, workers' compensation payments, annual leave and sick leave, maternity and paternity leave payments, redundancy and termination payments.
Requirements
You only set up the wage and salary earnings wage types, if you use the SGC function. You do not have to set up WSE wage types for non-SGC funds.
There is SGC legislation governing the wage types to be cumulated for wage and salary earnings. Read the current legal requirements to establish which wage types to flag for cumulation class 41.
Standard settings
The standard system contains model SAP wage types that you can use or copy.
Recommendation
SAP recommends that you use wage type /141 for SGC wage and salary earnings to calculate SGC contributions.
Activities
To set up your WSE wage types to determine an employee's eligibility to SGC contributions, you:
- Flag the wage types you want to cumulate into the SGC wage and salary earnings wage type, and choose Goto -> Details.
- Set the flag for the relevant cumulation in each of the wage types.
- Navigate between the wage types using Goto -> Next entry.
