In this step, you determine how the SAP System processes the different termination and redundancy wage types. You do this by entering the appropriate specification against processing classes 77 (Termination Organiser) and 78 (Redundancy wage type for allocating lump sum), and evaluation class 12 (Wage type allocation for the Termination Organiser).

This enables you to:

  • Set up the wage types used to calculate tax during the termination process.
  • Identify wage types used to pay long service leave (LSL). You can determine whether the wage types accumulate the LSL values pre-August 78, post-August 78 or post-August 93based on processing class 77 settings. There is a specification for each of components for LSL payments. You can also set up a different set of wage types for LSL, in case the termination reason is due to Redundancy. This must be set up so that the system taxes termination payments correctly. The ATO LSL formula calculates the values entered in the ATO LSL Formula Components screen, and creates wage types that are used to calculate tax in the Terminations/Redundancies program.

The wage types that are generated by the ATO LSL formula can be configured for hours or an amount. Make sure that the wage types you assign values to are configured correctly for hours or amounts. To configure your wage types in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Payroll Australia go to Basic Settings -> Environment of Wage Type Maintenance -> Check wage type characteristics.
  • Identify wage types used to calculate severance pay /Lieu of notice pay/Additional pay. This can be identified by the processing class 78 settings. Any wage type can be configured for inclusion or exclusion in the calculation of any of the above payments through the different settings for the processing class.
  • All the wage types above with processing class 77 and 78 settings should be creatable as Additional Payments and hence should be permissible to that info type. Like wise for off-cycle wage type payments such as, ETP payments and components, net termination payment should be creatable as Additional Payments: Off-cycle.

To configure the wage type permissible to the additional payment info type, go to Personnel Management -> Personnel Administration -> Payroll Data -> Additional payments -> Wage Types -> Check wage type catalog -> Check entry permissibility for additional payments.
Exclude the LSL leave types so that they do not appear in the Termination Leave Payments Australia view (V_T5QTR).
  • To ensure correct taxation of the wage types, in the Payroll Australia IMG go to Taxation -> Tax Wage Types -> .
  • Identify wage types used to override termination taxation. You can choose if you want to override wage types /401, /420 to /424 based on the Processing class 66 settings. The wage types should be configured as deduction wage types with input combination as No amount, number/unit essential. To configure your wage types, in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Payroll Australia go to Basic Settings -> Environment of Wage Type Maintenance ->Check wage type characteristics.

These wage types should be creatable as Recurring payments and deductions and hence should be permissible to that info type. To configure the wage type permissible to the recurring payment and deduction info type, go to Personnel Management -> Personnel Administration -> Payroll Data -> Recurring payments and deductions -> Wage Types -> Check wage type catalog -> Check entry permissibility per info type.
  • Specify the evaluation class for correct reporting of the wage types. This allows you to identify the notational wage types and the termination wage types. If these are not identified correctly, the wage types will not appear on the termination report or they will appear in the incorrect position on the report.

Standard settings

The standard system contains model SAP wage types that you can copy and modify.
