In this step, you define how leave without pay (LWOP) absences are processed for a particular transfer rule, personnel subarea grouping and absence type.
To do this, you define:
- Whether the date of the transfer from accrual to entitlement is automatically extended by the length of any LWOP absence
- Whether the system must check a threshold value before extending the transfer date
- If the LWOP absence is greater than the threshold value, whether the system adds the entire length of the LWOP absence to the transfer date, or only the amount over the threshold value
Example
In your company, maternity leave and sick leave are defined as LWOP absences for the transfer rule Long Service Leave.
You want LWOP absences for maternity leave to extend the transfer date by the total number of absence days. In this case, you enter the LWOP impact indicator Affect immediately.
You want LWOP absences for sick leave to extend the transfer date after 28 absence days (4 weeks) only. In this case, you enter:
LWOP impact indicator Look at threshold value
LWOP threshold 28
Consider total LWOP days blank
Based on these entries, if an employee is absent on sick leave for 29 days, the transfer date is extended by one day.
Requirements
You must have set up your employee groupings, transfer rules and date types as described in the step Set Up Transfer Rules and Date Types.
You should only enter the LWOP absences that extend the transfer date.
Standard settings
The standard system contains model entries that you can modify to meet your requirements.
Recommendation
Activities
- Enter the relevant employee subgroup grouping, personnel subarea groupings, transfer rule, and absence type.
- To extend the transfer date immediately, set the LWOP impact indicator to Affect immediately .
- To extend the transfer date according to certain threshold values, set the LWOP impact indicator to Look at threshold value, and enter the relevant value in the LWOP threshold field.
- If the LWOP absence exceeds the threshold value and you want the entire length of the absence added to the transfer date, flag the Consider total LWOP days field.
- If the LWOP absence exceeds the threshold value and you only want the days over the threshold added to the transfer date, leave the Consider total LWOP days field blank.
Further notes
The system extends the transfer date by the total number of calendar days and not working days. Hence, if an employee is absent from the 01.03.1999 to the 28.03.1999 and the absence is not subject to a threshold, the transfer date is extended by 28 days.
