In this step, you group together employees whose absences you want to valuate similarly in absence valuation. You group the employees according to the employee subgroup grouping for personnel calculation rules. This way, you determine which table entries the system references for which employee subgroup grouping during absence valuation.
Function MOD PTMO GEN is accessed in the personnel calculation schema PT00. By accessing this function, the system calls personnel calculation rule PTMO (groupings for payroll accounting).
Example
You want to specify different rules for valuating absences for hourly wage earners than for salaried staff. In this step, you determine which table entries the system should use to valuate absences.
- In the standard SAP R/3 system, hourly wage earners belong to the employee subgroup grouping for personnel calculation rules 1. Depending on this grouping, the following rules are specified in the personnel calculation rule PTMO: the absence valuation rules for hourly wage earners should be stored under employee grouping for absence valuation 01.
- In the standard SAP R/3 system, salaried staff belong to the employee subgroup grouping for personnel calculation rules 3. Depending on this grouping, the following rules are specified in the personnel calculation rule PTMO: the absence valuation rules for salaried staff should be stored under employee grouping for absence valuation 02.
Standard settings
The modifiers A and 2 (MODIF A, MODIF 2) are set in the standard SAP transfer system. Modifier A controls the access to the Absence valuation table, which you edit in the following steps.
MODIF A = 01:
When accounting takes place, the system only uses entries in the Absence valuation table if they have the value 01 in the Absence valuation employee grouping field (employee grouping for absence valuation). Other table entries are ignored when absences are valuated.
MODIF 2 = 01:
In the standard SAP R/3 system, MODIF 2 is also set in this personnel calculation rule. You determine the groupings for accessing tables via MODIF 2, in a later step, for time wage type valuation.
Recommendation
You should only make changes if you want the payroll driver to access tables using other groupings. You must enter values for the corresponding grouping in the relevant tables.
Activities
- Decide which groupings you want to use to access which tables.
- Call personnel calculation rule PTMO by selecting Define grouping for absence valuation.
- Set the required groupings.
The documentation on operation MODIF provides an overview of the groupings and tables. To display the overview, select MODIF A in the Operation column and press F1. - Make a copy of the standard personnel calculation rule PTMO and rename it as ZMOD.
- Depending on the employee subgroup grouping for personnel calculation rules, set the values of MODIF A in the personnel calculation rule ZMOD according to with the groupings to be used when accessing the tables.
- If you require additional groupings for accessing tables, add more lines based on the standard entries.
- Select Enter changed personnel calculation rule in schema to change the name of personnel calculation rule MOD PTMO GEN in personnel calculation schema PT00 by entering the personnel calculation rule ZMOD as the second parameter, instead of PTMO.
Further notes
If you use time evaluation, wage types are selected during the wage type selection for absences, which are valuated according to the "as-if" principle.
If you make changes to the assignment of employee groupings for absence valuation (MODIF A) in this step, you should change your time evaluation schemas accordingly, in order to guarantee consistency in absence valuation.
