In this step, you determine wage types to override the tax amounts calculated by the SAP System for the employee.
If you enter an amount against these wage types, the SAP System uses this amount to determine the tax paid by the employee for the payroll period rather than the amount calculated by the system.
Example
An employee on a monthly salary receives a bonus payment every three months. If you do not override the tax amount, the SAP System would add the bonus to the employee's monthly salary in the month that he or she receives the bonus and tax the entire amount. This would lead to the employee paying a higher rate of tax than if he or she had received one third of the bonus each month over three months.
If you calculate the correct amount of tax over the three months and store that in the tax override wage type, this amount will take priority over the amount calculated by the system.
