In this step, you define whether leave without pay absences (LWOP) automatically extend the deduction interval of long service leave that has already been rolled over.
This is handled by a dynamic action which is activated when you create a leave without pay absence (LWOP) in the Absences infotype (2001). If you have set long service leave up so that it cannot be accumulated over several transfer periods, the system automatically updates the deduction interval for long service leave already rolled over in the Absence Quota infotype (2006).
Example
Martin Green started work for your company on 01.01.1990. After 10 years of service, he is entitled to 37.5 hours of long service leave on 01.01.2000. According to company policy, he will be entitled to 75 hours of long service leave on 01.01.2005, after 15 years of service. However, in 2001 he takes 2 weeks LWOP. As your company does not allow employees to accumulate long service leave over several transfer periods and has defined that the date of transfer from accrual to entitlement is automatically extended by the length of any LWOP absence, Martin will not be eligible for the 75 hours of long service leave until 15.01.2005. However, his existing entitlement to 37.5 hours leave, transferred after 10 years, is not to be forfeited on 01.01.2005 as planned, but can be deducted until the next transfer period starts on 15.01.2005.
Requirements
If you wish to extend the deduction period automatically, you must have:
- Set up the validity and deduction rules for long service leave to ensure that long service leave may not be accumulated over several transfer periods under Set Up Transfer Rules and Date Types
- Defined how leave without pay absences affect the transfer of long service leave from accrual to entitlement under Set Up Leave Without Pay Rules
Standard settings
In the standard system a dynamic action ensures that the deduction interval is extended by the length of LWOP taken.
Recommendation
- If you wish to automatically extend the deduction interval by the length of any LWOP absence taken, you do not need to do anything.
- If you do not wish the deduction interval to be extended, you must delete the dynamic action as described below.
Activities
To delete the dynamic action:
- Enter infotype 2001 (Absences).
- Delete the following lines:
00 40 P T001P-MOLGA='43'
00 41 F EXTEND_DEDTO(HNZCDAP0)
- Save your changes.
