In this step, you determine how an address is printed on a form. An address can only be displayed in individual fields.
When you are setting up an address, you specify the table field from which the adresses are read. For this field, the following values exist for addresses:
- LINE0
- LINE1
- LINE2
- LINE3
- LINE4
- LINE5
- LINE6
- LINE7
- LINE8
- LINE9
- LINEK
The precise type of data to be entered in each line has not been predefined. To display a complete address, several entries are usually required. The first address line must have the value "LINE0" in the table field. The entry for the second address line must have the value "LINE1", and so on.
The number of entries for an address depends on how many address lines are to be printed on a form. You can specify up to 10 address lines. If you only want to use one address line, you must use the value "LINEK".
How much of an address is formatted depends on the number of address lines defined. If only a few address lines are defined, only the essential elements of an address, (such as name, street, postal code and town) are printed. If required, some data may be suppressed. If a large number of address lines is defined, additional address information, such as form or address or title, can be printed. You can also create a more attractive address display by inserting additional blank lines.
When you create a form the address lines are adopted in accordance with the postal regulations of the country in question.
Example
You want to set up a form with five address lines in the lines 05 to 09, each from column 01. The address is to be printed on each page of the form. In this case, the following entries are required:
Page type Position Table Table field Output length
EP 05/001 ADRS LINE0 30
EP 06/001 ADRS LINE1 30
EP 07/001 ADRS LINE2 30
EP 08/001 ADRS LINE3 30
EP 09/001 ADRS LINE4 30
The address could, in this case, and depending on the country, be printed as follows:
<Form of address>
<Name>
<Street> and <postal code>
Blank line
<Country code> <postal code> <town>
