Requirements
Before you may perform this IMG step, you are required to have created all applicable classification groups, as described in a previous IMG step.
Recommendation
We strongly recommend that you perform the assignment of classification groups at the Organization unit level (Object type O). Assigning the classification group to these units assures that all subordinate units inherit the classification group of the parent organizational unit.
Activities
In this step, you assign organizational units, jobs, or positions to classification groups. This assignment does not necessarily have to be directly linked to the employee's organizational unit; it can also be stored in a parent unit anywhere in the organizational structure. In response, the system performs a search throughout the organizational structure until an entry is found for a parent organizational unit. Consequently, you should strive to perform the assignment at the highest possible level of your organizational structure.
Companies that hold only one account per province can perform the assignment of classification groups at the highest level of their organizational structure; they do not need to maintain the assignment for each organizational unit.
Further notes
Assignment at the job or position level should only be used for exceptions where employees fall into a different classification than their organizational unit. Direct assignment of an employee to the WCB account can only be achieved via the employee's position.
Moreover, if the employee is assigned to several positions (with staffing percentages), then only the information stored in Infotype 0001 is used for processing. The system ignores any information on additional positions; in other words, it does not process the staffing percentage.
Since classification group assignment can be performed at three levels - position, job, and organization unit - the following processing hierarchy is required: Position -> Job -> Organizational unit.
