In this step, you review the model wage types that are delivered with the Vacation pay wage type group, then copy some (or all) of them to wage types in the customer name range, thereby creating a vacation pay wage type catalogue specific to your enterprise. Under Canadian law, all earnings contained in any of the wage types delivered here are deemed to be vacationable.

Once you finish copying the appropriate model wage types, you may adapt their equivalents to meet the specific requirements of your enterprise. The wage types thus adapted will be the ones that your enterprise will use to process vacation payments to eligible employees.

Requirements

You have developed a thorough overview of all vacationable earnings paid to employees of your enterprise and the wage types to be used to pay them.

Standard settings

As delivered, the Vacation pay wage type group features a large number of model wage types that are used to process vacationable earnings. However, these wage types may not cover every kind of vacationable earnings that are paid to employees of your enterprise.

Caution

Wage types consist of any combination of four alphanumeric characters. However, care should be taken to distinguish model wage types from their customer-specific equivalents. The first character of any model wage type delivered by SAP is invariably a letter, while the first character of any customer-specific wage type should always be a number.

Always remember to copy wage types into the customer name range.
The first character of any copied wage type should always be a number!

Activities

To create the vacation pay wage type catalogue to be used by your enterprise, proceed as follows.

  1. Execute this IMG step.
  2. On the subsequent dialog box, select Copy, then Continue. You will now access the Copy Wage Types transaction, also referred to as the wage type copier.
  3. Review the wage types contained in the wage type group at hand, then highlight the table entry of each wage type to be copied. For each wage type highlighted, enter the following information:
    • in the CWType column, enter the four-character designation of your model wage type equivalent. Remember that the first character should be a number.
    • in the Wage type text column, amend the descriptive text of your model wage type equivalent as required.
    • in the Shrt txt column, amend the short text of your model wage type equivalent as required.

You have now prepared your system to copy the desired model wage types to their equivalents in the customer name range. Review all entries one last time for accuracy, then proceed as follows.

  1. If you would like to perform a test run of the wage type copier, so that the contents of the corresponding wage type tables are not affected, then select the Test run checkbox. If you are ready to perform a live run, whereby the system will write the new wage types to all appropriate tables, then de-select the Test run checkbox.
  2. Choose Copy.

The system will now copy the specified wage types (as a test or live run), then display a log of the changes made to all corresponding tables. If you have performed a live run and if the system displays no errors in the subsequent log, then exit this step and proceed with the next one.

For more detailed information on the process of copying wage types, choose Help -> Application help from the wage type copier menu.
