In this step, you define the file paths to which the ROE Workbench - in concert with the external software application ROE Laser Print from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada - will (a) write the flat file(s) it generates and (b) send ROE form data for printing.

Note

If your enterprise has elected to activate the ROE Workbench for productive use with ROE Web, rather than ROE Laser Print, you may omit this step, provided that your enterprise does not intend to use ROE Laser Print again in the future.

Standard settings

Due to the constraints of the external software application ROE Laser Print, the standard system only supports Windows NT file syntaxes for laser printing. UNIX file syntaxes are not supported.

In contrast, both Windows NT and UNIX file syntaxes are supported for flat file generation.

Activities

  1. Execute this IMG step.
  2. On the subsequent screen, select Position.
  3. In the dialog box thereafter, enter ROE_FILE_PATH in the Logical path field.
    1. Highlight the corresponding table entry, then select the Assignment of physical paths to logical path level.
    2. Highlight the table entry of the file syntax in which the flat file is to be written, then select Details (F2).
    3. On the subsequent screen, enter the appropriate file path for the ROE flat file in the Physical path field. The recommended entry for this field, based on the default file locations proposed during installation of the HRSDC software ROE Laser Print, is:

  • C:\Program Files\HRDC-DRHC\ROE\data\<PARAM_2><FILENAME>

    Although you can replace the file path C:\Program Files\HRDC-DRHC\ROE\data\ with another file path of your choosing - especially if you did not accept the proposed default file path during installation of the HRSDC software application ROE Laser Print - we urge you to retain the reserve words <PARAM_2><FILENAME> at the end of whatever file path you specify, since the ROE Workbench is designed to use these reserve words during flat file generation.
  1. Save your entries, then choose Back twice to return to the initial screen.

  1. Highlight the table entry that corresponds to logical file path ROE_PRINTER_PATH, then select Details (F2).
    1. On the subsequent screen, use Windows NT file syntax in the Physical path field to specify the appropriate file path for ROE laser printing. The recommended entry for this field, based on the proposal during installation of the HRSDC software ROE Laser Print, is:

  • C:\Program Files\HRDC-DRHC\ROE\<FILENAME>

    Although you can replace the file path C:\Program Files\HRDC-DRHC\ROE\ with another file path of your choosing, we urge you to retain the reserve word <FILENAME> at the end of whatever file path you specify, since the ROE Workbench is designed to use this reserve word during flat file generation.
  1. Save your entries, then choose Back twice to return to the initial screen.

  1. Before you exit this configuration step, we recommend that you verify that the following logical file name definition has been defined in your system:
    • Logical file

  2. Exit this IMG step, then proceed to the next IMG step for ROE Workbench configuration.
