Use

In this step, you maintain the reason codes that appear in Block 16 of the Record of Employment and that indicate the reason (such as Dismissal or Retirement) for which the ROE was generated. Although these codes are defined by HRSDC, you may execute this step to maintain additional reason codes that your enterprise requires, if you desire.

Standard settings

As delivered, the standard system includes all valid codes defined by HRSDC, including:

  • A - Shortage of work
    B - Strike or Lockout
    C - Return to school
    D - Illness or Injury
    E - Quit
    F - Pregnancy Parental
    G - Retirement
    H - Work sharing
    J - Apprentice Training
    K - Other
    M - Dismissal
    N - Leave of absence
    Z - Compassionate Care (Web ROE Only)

Activities

If your enterprise needs to maintain additional codes - for example, to assign multiple texts to code K (Other) - then proceed as follows.

  1. Execute this IMG step.
  2. On the subsequent screen, select New entries.
    1. In the Reason column, enter the two-character additional code to be maintained, ensuring that the first character is a numeric value - for example, 1K or 2K.
    2. In the Name column, enter a corresponding explanatory text for the new code you have entered - for example, Transfer or Termination.
  3. Repeat step 2. until all new codes have been maintained.
  4. Save your entries, then proceed with configuration.

Further notes

Any explanatory texts that you maintain in step 2b. will appear in Block 18 (Comments) of the ROE, provided that you use the corresponding new codes to issue that ROE.
