In this step, you assign the user wage types by which your enterprise processes pension plan contributions to the seven-digit registration numbers assigned to those plans by the appropriate pension authorities.
Description
When an amount is declared on the T4 in Box 20 (Registered pension plan contributions), CRA requires the seven-digit registration number of the pension plan to be declared in Box 50 (RPP or DPSP registration number). If multiple pension plans are cumulated in Box 20, then the plan with the largest total contribution is to be declared in Box 50.
Activities
To assign your pension plan wage types to your pension plan registration numbers, follow these instructions.
Execute this IMG step. On the subsequent screen, select New entries.
Under the Wage type column, enter the four-character name of each user wage type that your enterprise uses to process pension plan contributions.
For each user wage type entered in step 2., enter:
01.01.nnnn (where nnnn is the four-digit number corresponding to the previous calendar year) under the From column,
31.12.9999 under the To column,
the seven-digit pension plan registration number under the RegNr column.
Save your entries and exit the transaction. If required, proceed to the next IMG section to configure T4A-NR tax reporting. If not, exit the Implementation Guide and proceed with Year End processing.
Note
Any descriptions that you may choose to enter under Comments are strictly for the internal use of your enterprise. These comments are not used elsewhere in the system, nor will they appear on any form to be submitted to CRA.
