In this step you define models of how the non-exempt amount should be calculated. You define a code and a description of the model.
There are two possibilities. On the one hand you can define a Normal rule. In this rule you can specify a Percentage limit, an Amount limit or both. In the latter case you must specify the Relation between those two limits. In addition, you specify whether the amount resulting from this rule is an Exempt amount or a Non-exempt amount. If you specify that it should be an exempt amount, then this amount is converted into a non-exempt amount during payroll by taking the difference between the net and the exempt amount.
Instead of specifying a normal rule you can specify a special rule for the limit.
If you have specified in the Garnishment debt infotype that a certain model for the non-exempt amount should be used, then you can still overwrite this way of calculating the limit by specifying your own limit in the infotype.

The SAP system offers a number of models for the non-exempt amount. These are mainly taken from Carswell.
