In this step, you activate part-day processing. This has significant repercussions and should only be done if mandatory for your absence scheme.
Example
An employee is sick from 12:00 until 14:00 on the same day. Does that qualify as a sickness absence or is the absence too short to qualify? If you decide it does qualify, you must activate part-day processing.
Requirements
Standard settings
As SAP standard delivery, part-day processing is not active. Only whole-day absences can reduce entitlement and receive payment.
The specific rules for part-day processing are attached to the employee's scheme via the Scheme Switches table (T5GPBS29). The available options are as follows:

1 Half Day if AB [Inc. Breaks] >= (PSP [Inc. Breaks] / 2)
2 Half Day if AB [Inc. Breaks] >= (PSP [Exc. Breaks] / 2)
3 Half Day if AB [Exc. Breaks] >= (PSP [Inc. Breaks] / 2)
4 Half Day if AB [Exc. Breaks] >= (PSP [Exc. Breaks] / 2)
5 Elapsed Hours AB [Inc. Breaks]
6 Elapsed Hours AB [Exc. Breaks]
C Customer Specific
Options 1 - 4 are for customers who wish to calculate and reduce entitlements in days.
Options 5 and 6 are for customers who wish to calculate and reduce entitlements in hours.
Option C is for customers who cannot use options 1 - 6. This option automatically calls the Customer Exit configured in the next IMG step: Activate the Customer Exit for Part-Day Factoring.
Recommendation
Consult with SAP when applying your part-day rules in this customer exit. The customer exit must cater for all possibilities but also not allow any overpayment in one day. For example: two part-day absences needing more than one days entitlement.
