In this step, you copy model wage types required for Health Insurance contribution processing.
VHI and BUPA processing operate on the principle of reducing balances. That is, the 'Total amount' wage type is reduced each pay period by the 'Deduction amount' wage type. This produces the amount of the 'Balance Amount' wage type.
Note
A VHI policy has three corresponding wage types. A BUPA policy also has three wage types. If any employee has more than one policy for a company, you must copy an additional 'set' of wage types to your number range.
Example
Assuming that within your organization, forty percent of your employees only have one VHI policy. However, ten percent of your employees have two VHI policies. You therefore copy the model wage types D110, D111 and D112 for the first policy.
However, as ten percent of you employees have a second policy, you must copy an additional set of wage types (using a different naming convention).
Another forty percent of your employees have only one BUPA policy. However, ten percent of your employees have two BUPA policies. Again, you therefore copy the model wage types D110, D111 and D112 for the first policy. However, as ten percent of you employees have a second policy, you must copy an additional set of wage types (using a different naming convention).
If an employee has a BUPA and a VHI policy you will only need one two sets of wage types.
The reason why it is necessary to create a new set of wage types is to allow you to report flexibly on all the policies held.
