Recommendation

SAP recommends that you copy the model wagetypes provided for the appropriate type of pension scheme (eg COMPS, COSRS). This will ensure the wagetypes are accounted correctly by the payroll schema, as well as reducing the amount of customising needed. For ease of identification, SAP recommends that you keep to the same naming convention as the model wagetypes, that is:

/P0x - Employee contributions
/P1x - Employer contributions
/P2x - Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVC)
/P3x - Free Standing AVC
/P4x - Employee tax free contributions
/P5x - Employee tax free AVC
/P6x - Employee pension holiday
/P7x - Employer pension holiday

where 'x' identifies the pension scheme (eg M for COMPS).

In keeping with the requirement that non-SAP wagetypes start with a number, SAP recommends that you replace the "/" with a number when copying the wagetypes, while still maintaining the P0 to P7 convention.

Activities

  1. Choose 'Copy' as the action to maintain wagetypes.
  2. For the original wagetypes, enter the ones you need to copy. This will normally be the /P0x to /P7x model wagetypes.
  3. For each original wagetype, enter the corresponding new wagetype along with a meaningful description and short text.
  4. Unless you want to run a test copy first, deselect the 'Test run' checkbox, select all the rows you have entered and press the Execute button.
  5. The next screen will show you the action you are proposing to take. To confirm the action, press the 'Copy wage types' button.
  6. A list of new records will be displayed as confirmation of the creation of the new wagetypes. The wagetypes will now be available to be assigned to pension amounts in the 'Assign wagetypes to pension scheme' step. If it was a test run, the tables will not have been updated.
