Use

The constants used in Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) and Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) processing are contained in Table T511K.

These constants determine the length of time and rate at which SMP/SPP/SAP may be paid to an employee, as well as the earliest and latest date at which these payments can start. They also allow the Qualifying Week to be determined (used to calculate the employee's Average Weekly Earnings), and control the notification period employees must give and the rates of SMP recoverable by employers.

The constants relevant for SMP processing are as follows:

  • ELGWK SMP : Continuous service (weeks)
  • HRMAX SMP : Max. weeks paid upper rate
  • LRMAX SMP : Max. weeks paid lower rate
  • MB1NF SMP : Max. MATB1 notification (weeks)
  • MGEST SMP : Accepted gestation period (days)
  • MNILV SMP : Min. MATB1 notification (weeks)
  • MPPEN SMP : Latest MPP start (weeks)
  • MPPST SMP : Earliest MPP start (weeks)
  • MPSTL SMP : Wks before EWC for stillbirth
  • OFFQW SMP : Gap QW before EWC (weeks)
  • SMPRO SMP : SMP recoverable: Other employers (%)
  • SMPRS SMP : SMP recoverable: Small employers (%)

The constants relevant for SPP processing are as follows:

  • PESPP SPP : Entitlement to paid leave (weeks)
  • PLAAD SPP : Maximum day wait before leave
  • PMSPP SPP : Entitlement stops after (days)
  • PMXNF SPP : Max. SC3 notification (weeks)
  • PNILV SPP : Minimum notification (weeks)
  • SPPRO SPP : SPP Recoverable: Other employers (%)

  • AESAP SAP : Entitlement to paid leave (weeks)
  • AILEP SAP : Earliest start pre-placement
