In this step, you describe absences according to your valuation requirements in payroll accounting. You create this description by defining absence valuation rules.
The description forms part of the key used in subsequent steps to define rules for valuating absences.
Examples
Absence descriptions are subject to the following requirements:
- You want to valuate absences for paid leave differently to absences for illness or days in lieu.
- You want to maintain statistics on the number of days paid and unpaid leave in your company. To do this, you create buckets in the step Create counting classes for absence valuation. In these buckets, you collect the relevant time data during the payroll run, and you assign wage types.
- You want to valuate absences differently according to the following criteria:
- specific employee groupings
- display of legal regulations (for example, continued pay during sick leave)
- absences on workdays or a public holiday
Standard settings
The standard system includes sample entries for absence valuation rules:
- paid leave
- sick leave/health cure
- accidents
- unpaid leave
Recommendation
Descriptions for absence valuation rules depend on the country grouping. If you want to implement your SAP System in more than one country, this will allow you to store absence valuation rules for each country.
Since absence valuation has interfaces to both Payroll Accounting and Time Management, you should note the following special feature:
As there are no country groupings in Time Management, absences are grouped independently of country groupings. Hence you should describe absence valuation rules so that the description can apply to all countries:
Co.grp ERule Description
01 01 paid leave
02 01 paid leave
03 01 paid leave
Country differences can subsequently be specified in the step Group absences for absence valuation.
Activities
- Check whether the absence valuation rules set up in the standard system meet your requirements.
- If required, add new absence valuation rules. Enter a name that enables you to easily identify the absence valuation rule at any time.
