Use
In this IMG activity, you store the personnel areas or personnel subareas that are used in the settlement procedure of costs for the continued payment of remuneration in cases of sickness (contribution U1). These are generally personnel areas/subareas that are considered to be standalone operations with no more than 30 employees.
Contribution U2 (reimbursement of employer#s personnel expenses for maternity benefits) must be paid by each operation regardless of the number of employees (you can make exceptions to this in the Social Insurance D infotype (0013) via SI attribute 33 (no U2 contribution).
Requirements
You have imported the Contribution Rates for Contribution U1 (balancing of costs for continued payment of remuneration in cases of sickness) using the contribution rate file.
To do this, the Import Contribution Rate File in the IMG activity Change HI Contribution Rates with Contribution Rate File is available under Payroll: Germany -> Social Insurance #> Recurring Adjustments -> Annual Adjustments.

The settlement procedure for contribution U1 is performed as follows:
- You employees' personnel areas and subareas are stored in the Organizational Assignment infotype (0001)
- Your employees# health insurance funds are stored in the Social Insurance D infotype (0013)
When you create a new record in the Social Insurance D infotype (0013), SI attribute 23 (SI Contribution U1) is the default value for an employee from a personnel area or subarea liable to contributions. Contribution U1 is only calculated for employees indicated in this way.
For the SI attribute 23 to be suggested automatically on creation, the value 23 needs to be entered in feature DSVVU (Default Values for Social Insurance) as the return value in the placeholder "FF".
The contributions are paid via the SI contribution statement.
Activities
Each health insurance fund can have up to 6 contributions with appropriate reimbursement rates assigned to it for contribution U1.
- For each personnel area/subarea participating in a contribution procedure, select the U1 contribution rate you want to use from the selection list in the U1 Rate field.
The first rate is the highest value and the 6th rate is the lowest. - Choose Save.
However, not ever heath insurance fund has 6 available contribution rates.
It is therefore possible that the contribution rate selected for a personnel subarea (for example, the 6th rate for the lowest rate) is not available for every health insurance fund. In these cases, the system looks for the next highest rate available for that health insurance fund and selects this rate automatically.
Example:
An enterprise has chosen the 5th contribution rate for a certain personnel area/subarea.
One of the health insurance funds belonging to this personnel area only has 3 available contribution rates.
In this case, the system automatically selects the 3rd contribution rate for this health insurance fund.
If you want to create a new contribution rate for a health insurance fund manually, proceed as follows:
- Choose New Entries.
- Enter the personnel area and personnel subarea.
- In the HI Fund field, enter the health insurance fund for which the selected contribution rate is not available.
- From the selection list in the U1 Rate field, select the desired rate for this health insurance fund.
- Enter the validity period
- Choose Save.
