In this step, you maintain the function models for the calculation of leave and sickness premiums for the pay scale types used.

If you use the pay scale types contained in the standard system for the BAT, BMT-G, MTArb or AVR Caritas collective agreements, it is not normally necessary to modify the calculation model.

However, we recommend that you check the settings.

You can use the following parameters for the calculation of the premium:

  • Pay scale definition

The pay scale definition determines the basic processes and rules for calculating the leave and sickness pay premium. This means that the type of calculation is determined by the choice of collective agreement.

For example, if the AVR collective agreement is selected, the regulations specified in this collective agreement determine that the premium is calculated using the average of the last three periods.

The BAT, BMT-G, MTArb, and AVR Caritas collective agreements are currently supported as pay scale definitions.

  • Wage type model for normal premium

The wage type model determines the wage types that are used to calculate the leave and sickness pay premium.

You have already set up the model in the step Define wage types to be used.

  • Wage type model for alternative premium

The alternative wage type model can be used to form a second premium in addition to the normal premium defined in the standard wage type model. (For example, in the BMT-G collective agreement, it is necessary to create different premium rates for different previous employment activities).

The absence days are valuated in payroll accounting. This is dependent on the existance of a regular previous employer bonus (a wage type with specification O in processing class 67 in table T512W) at the time of the absence. If this wage type exists, it is valuated with the alternative premium.

Otherwise, the valuation takes place using the normal wage type model.

You set up the alternative model in the section Define wage types to be used.

In contrast to the wage type model for the normal premium in which the average wage types (/2nn) are fixed, the average wage types for the alternative premium are formed using the valuation rules that are specified in the wage type model.

When setting up the alternative wage type model, the valuation rules used must also be copied and modified in the section Define Average Valuation in each case.

You make the necessary coding for the cumulation of your wage types in average wage types in the section Create Cumulation Wage Types (Bonuses, Basic Pay).

  • Events for the start of a new calculation period

In payroll, the model of events for the start of a new calculation period controls the conditions under which a new calculation period is started, in other words, when the average bases have already been cumulated, and the premium rates that have been fixed can no longer be used.

You have already made the settings for the model in the section Define Events for the Start of a New Calculation Period.

  • Dynamic modification of premium for standard pay increase

Some collective agreements determine that the leave and sickness premium must be modified if a standard pay increase is effected. The bonus is currently increased by 80 percent of the general pay increase.

This field determines how and when dynamic modification of the premium rate should take place.

  • Fix premium after recalculation

This field determines the period of time after a recalculation of the premium rate after which the rate can be fixed for the current year.

You enter a number and a time unit. This is because different rules apply to the different collective agreements (for example, update after 6 months or after 50 working days).

  • Valuate absence with premium rate from previous month

This field determines whether cross-period absences are valuated in the following month using the premium rate from the previous period.

In payroll accounting, this decision is important for some collective agreements if the premium rate has not yet been fixed (for example, if an employee has only recently joined the company). If this is the case, when the rate for a cross-period absence is recalculated in the following period, a different value may be determined than in the previous period.

Standard settings

The standard system contains a calculation model for all model pay scale types in the Public Sector. These calculation models comply with the conditions specified in the collective agreements.

Activities

To change a calculation model, proceed as follows:
