For employees in the industry-wide collective agreement for the federation (MTB) or state (MTL) - collectively known as the MTArb, the pay is factored in accordance with the rules defined in the MTB/MTL §30 par. 3. In the system, reductions are calculated in the following way to comply with these rules. Personnel calculation rule DOC1 is used.
Payment = regular monthly wage * (day factor - hourly deduction)
Calculation of day factor
If the employee is not entitled to a wage for the complete working time, the wage for each full workday when the employee is not entitled to pay is reduced by the part of the regular monthly wage that corresponds to the ratio of one workday to the number of workdays in the complete calendar month (§30 par. 3, sect. 1 b MTB/MTL).
The factor for the reduction according to calendar days is calculated in the personnel calculation rule DOC1 using the following formula:
Day factor = 1 - (lost workdays / workdays in month)
Example
The hourly-wage earner Frank Fisher only worked 7 days in August out of a possible 21 days because he took unpaid leave. He has no other absence hours. His regular monthly wage is DM4,000. This must be reduced for August.
Calculation of day factor: 1 - (14 days / 21 days) = 0.333333
Payment: DM4,000 * (0.333333 - 0) = DM1,333.33
Calculation of hourly deduction
If the employee is not entitled to a wage for the total working time in the complete calendar month, the wage for each hour for which no remuneration is paid is reduced by an hourly-based proportion of the regular monthly wage (§30 par. 3, sect. 1 a and 2 MTB/MTL).
The factor for the hourly deduction is calculated in the personnel calculation rule DOC1 using the following formula:
Hourly deduction = lost hours / monthly working time in hours
The monthly working time in hours replaces the multiplication of the regular weekly working time by the factor 4.348. With a regular weekly working time of 38.5 hours, the monthly working time is 167.40 hours. The system uses the value for the monthly working time from the Basic Pay infotype (0008). This value is entered in the Hrs/mont field for each employee.
Example
The hourly-paid employee Maria Miller has 7.5 lost hours in August. The regular weekly working time is 19.25 hours; this corresponds to a monthly working time of 83.70 hours. The regular monthly wage is DM2,000.
Calculation of the hourly deduction: 7.5 hrs / 83.7 hrs = 0.089606
If the day factor is 1 (= no lost days), the regular monthly wage is multiplied by the factor 0.910394 and subsequently reduced.
Payment: DM2,000 * (1 - 0.089606) = DM1,820.79
If Maria Miller takes an additional unpaid absence day in August (21 working days), this hourly deduction is subtracted by the corresponding day factor.
Calculation of day factor: 1- (1 day / 21 days) = 0.952381
Payment: DM2,000 * (0.952381 - 0.089606) = DM1,725.55
