The deduction sequence determines the order in which an employee's leave types are deducted.
Additional leave is only deducted in winter, while leave remaining from the previous year is usually deducted before current leave.
Example
Leave for industrial workers in the construction industry is deducted in the following order: Additional leave from the previous year followed by standard annual leave from the previous year followed by additional leave for the current year, and standard annual leave for the current year.
Requirements
You must have set up the following sections in the Implementation Guide (IMG):
- Absence Catalog
- Absence Counting for the absence type Leave.
Standard settings
Recommendation
If you want to use the sample SAP wage types B* for industrial workers, enter an '*' in the field First leave type.
The R/3 System then deducts leave in descending order according to the leave type key. Hence the system first deducts:
B8 Additional leave (current year)
followed by B7 Standard annual leave (current year)
followed by B6 Remaining additional leave for prev. year/employer
followed by B5 Remaining annual leave for prev. year/employer
followed by B4 Transfer additional leave
followed by B3 Transfer standard annual leave
followed by B2 Additional leave (vacation fund)
followed by B1 Standard annual leave (vacation fund)

Further notes
You must define the deduction sequence of the Absence/attendance grouping for counting to which your absence for leave belongs.
You can determine this grouping in the view Define grouping for absences.
For details on maintaining this table, refer to the step Define rules for absence counting.
