In this Customizing activity, you define a calendar month to adjust the social average salary for a contribution area for each social insurance type. You also specify an effective period for this switch period. The system uses the social average salary for relevant social insurance calculations.
If you do not define the social average salary switch period for a social insurance type for a specific effective period, the system uses the social insurance contribution switch period instead. You define the social insurance contribution switch period in Customizing for Payroll under Payroll: China -> Master Data -> Social Insurance -> Contribution Area -> Maintain Social Insurance Contribution Switch Period.

Example
For example, for pension insurance in the contribution area of Shanghai, you have set the switch period to July, effective from 01.01.2012 to 31.12.9999.
As a result, before July in 2012, the enterprise adopts the social average salary of 2010 in Shanghai for relevant pension insurance calculations. From July 2012 to June 2013, the enterprise adopts the social average salary of 2011 in Shanghai for relevant pension insurance calculations.
